For some horses there is just nothing you can do...resistance is futile. You must buy endless blanket replacements.
I came to your blog only recently so I know this response is very late. I have a Pessoa blanket that has a 3 year warranty (Tundra). It was ripped within a month and they replaced it no questions asked.
It is a 2100 denier ripstop-woven outer shell. 350 grams insulation---this is the version with the warranty.
